Stephen Hague is Associate Professor of Modern European History at Rowan University in New Jersey. He works on Britain and its global engagement since the eighteenth century, with a special interest in the intersections of architecture, material culture, and political history. He is the author of The Gentleman’s House in the British Atlantic World and co-edited At Home in the Eighteenth-Century: Interrogating Domestic Space. He has also contributed essays to recent volumes on Global Goods and the Country House, Country House Collections: Past, Present, and Future and A Material World: Culture, Society, and the Life of Things in Early Anglo-America.
