The orchestra, which rehearses weekly at Linacre, plans to play a classical orchestral repertoire and aims to fill a gap in high quality music-making opportunities for postgraduate students.

Despite only existing for a few weeks, the orchestra has already performed two concerts: the first at the Linacre Christmas celebration and the second as a collaboration with MuMo Creative and English National Ballet at the Weston Library as part of a ‘Dance for Parkinson’s’ programme. Their repertoire has so far featured Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite but in the new year they aim to tackle a symphony and a collaboration with the Linacre Community Choir.

Founder and conductor of the orchestra, Sam Kail-Dyke said;

“It has been so much fun getting the Oxford Postgraduate Orchestra off the ground this term, and I have been delighted with the positive feedback the project has received from audiences and players alike. After a pair of successful concerts, I am really excited to continue to develop the orchestra and have big plans for what I hope we can achieve!”

The orchestra is un-auditioned, and welcomes post-graduate musicians from all colleges and departments. To join the orchestra, please complete this form.
