Carolin’s research aims to understand antibiotic tolerance in the major pathogen Staphylococcus aureus, combining molecular microbiology with comparative population genomics. Based at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology at the University of Oxford, and EPA Cephalosporin Junior Research Fellow at Linacre College, Carolin received just under £590,000 from UK Research and Innovation to fund her research over the next three years.

On the award, Carolin said “I am thrilled to have been awarded this fellowship to pursue my independent research project on antibiotic tolerance. This will help us to understand how bacteria survive antibiotics, even if they are not resistant to them. I am deeply grateful for all the support I have received.”
