Linacre College is seeking a Maintenance Technician to ensure our properties, facilities and grounds are kept to the highest standards.

Key Information:

Salary: £31,459 – £33,137 per year (pro-rata for part-time), inclusive of an Oxford University Weighting of £1,500 per year
Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Contract: Permanent

About the Role:
As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining and improving the College’s buildings, mechanical systems, and outdoor spaces. Working as part of a supportive team, you will handle a variety of tasks including responsive repairs, planned upgrades, and routine maintenance. This role also includes occasional on-call duties, typically one week in 4-5, with enhanced pay to cover on-call time and call-outs.

This role requires hands-on work across our properties, located within a 2-mile radius of the main College site, and the ability to travel independently using the College’s bike or van.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsive Maintenance: Plumbing repairs, basic carpentry, appliance replacement and more.
Planned Maintenance: Small upgrade projects, redecoration and installations.
Routine Checks: Equipment monitoring, fire alarm testing and record-keeping.
Grounds Maintenance: Seasonal tasks like lawn mowing and hedge trimming.
Health & Safety: Ensure all tasks comply with College safety processes and regulations.

Essential Criteria:

  • Practical experience and strong general knowledge of building maintenance.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety legislation.
  • Physically fit to meet job demands.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Plumbing experience with knowledge of heating and hot water systems.
  • General handyman, caretaking, or gardening skills.
  • Relevant Health & Safety or First Aid training (training can be provided.)
