You can choose the frequency of your regular gift to suit you. Most of our current regular givers give a small amount monthly, but others prefer to give quarterly or annually. Regular gifts are particularly appreciated as they provide a predictable income for our key priorities.
Regular gifts have the highest impact when allocated to one of our endowed funds, where the donation is invested and will continue to supply College with income in perpetuity. If setting up a new regular donation, we suggest choosing our endowed Scholarship, Hardship, or Endowment Funds.

Voices from the Community
Edinah Samuel (2023) recently completed an MSc in Environmental Change and Management on a scholarship partially funded by a Linacre alumnus. Learn more about her journey and the impact donations can have on our current and future students.
Hardship Fund
We use the income from our Hardship Fund to give out grants for students who find themselves in unforeseen financial hardship during their studies at Linacre. This can be due to unexpected illness, accidents, or, if the student is self-funded, a parent losing their income. This fund is essential to ensure we can support our students and allow them to finish their courses even if something unpredictable occurs. In recent years the call on the Hardship Fund from our students has doubled and it is a key priority to College to be able to help our students when they most need it.
Linacre Scholarship Fund
The income from the Scholarship Fund is maximised by matching it with initiatives within the University to create fully-funded scholarships – in this way the impact of our fund is multiplied. Currently we are focusing on scholarships in the Humanities and Social Sciences division, where scholarships are particularly hard to find. In 2025, there is one student on course at Linacre who would not have been able to take up their place were it not for our Scholarship Fund, created through regular donations from our alumni.
Endowment Fund
Giving to the Endowment Fund is a long-term investment in Linacre’s future. As a relatively new College, Linacre does not benefit from the ancient wealth of our peers and so we find ourselves trying to fund support for students on an equivalent level to other colleges from a much poorer financial position. Income from the endowment funds a lot of projects but in particular, in 2024, we took the decision to create a full-time Welfare Officer to work with our students to provide them with the support they need to remain on course and healthy. Her salary is funded entirely from our endowment – we could not provide this level of student support without these funds.
The Regular Giving Circle
To show our appreciation for the ongoing generosity of our regular givers, we have created the Regular Giving Circle to further thank our long-standing regular donors. Members are invited to exclusive events and receive the Regular Giving Circle pin badge.
“ For someone who was a refugee in Ethiopia, becoming part of the University of Oxford feels like an extraordinary achievement. A scholarship has not only transformed my academic life but has also been a profound personal milestone, bringing me to a place I could only dream of. ”
